Welcome to the website of the Cambridge University English Society. The English Society exists to make English at Cambridge as fun and fulfilling as possible. If you are studying English at Cambridge, then congratulations, you’re automatically a member of the Society. If you’re not studying English but are interested in joining (who wouldn’t be?), then please contact the committee.

We organise a variety of events throughout the year, from academic events such as speakers and theatre trips to socials such as the freshers’ squash and annual garden party.

The Society is grateful to our 2010-11 sponsor, Hogan Lovells. Hogan Lovells is one of the leading global law firms, with over 40 offices in Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the United States. Our distinctive market position is founded on our exceptional breadth of our practice, on deep industry knowledge, and on our ‘one team’ global approach, and we provide high quality advice to many of the world’s largest corporations and financial institutions.

We are holding open events throughout the academic year forĀ  final year non-law students and non-law graduates who would like the opportunity to have a detailed insight into the life and work of a City law firm and what being a trainee solicitor involves. The open events will take place over two consecutive days and students will take part in interactive workshops, have presentations and spend time work-shadowing one of our current trainees.
